ERASMUS Second term 2009/2010: Important information

Welcome to ESN UAM! The one & only official student asociation (volunteering & non-profit) for foreigner students at the UAM (with the support of the university).

We're here to help you! We know the first days in a new city are very stressing, so here you'll find quick tips for these days:

• Looking for a flat? Check out our "Accomodation forum" for foreigner students, full of useful links to the best accomodation search engines.
• In the middle of February we'll organize a "Welcome Meeting" for ALL the foreigner students (not only ERASMUS) at the UAM. Check the website for updates or join our mailing list to be informed about the exact date, time & place. You've the rest of the info in this link.
• Apart from that meeting, we'll organize a "Welcome week" full of FREE activities to help you to integrate with the rest of foreign students and local people & culture.
• Anyway, we reccomend you to join our mailing list here. It has no spam and it's very useful since we'll sent you one or two e-mails every week with our last updates on useful info for students at the UAM. If you want to see what kind of messages we sent pass years, you can check the archives here.
• Furthermore, you can use the mailing list for your own purposes (except looking for accomodation, since we have a separate forum for that), like finding other students from your same country, your same studies, ask for class notes in your language etc.
• Do you have a Facebook profile? Then join also our Facebook group here!. This way you'll be able to stay in closer contact with us and knowing our faces and more personal info about us... and meet rest of the foreigner students at the UAM!
• Most of the foreigner students buy a phone SIM card the firsts days and use it the rest of their stay. If you're planning to buy one, we've to inform you that we, at ESN Spain level (the whole country), have a partnership with the phone company www.masmovil.es, so if you get our ESN Card, you'll get a "Masmovil" SIM phone card precharged with 10 euro. More info on that to come soon...
• Because we're students like you, we've our final first term exams in January/February, so we're not able to be at our office during that month, so please wait until we inform about our timetables in the mailing list mentioned above.
• Don't miss the "Spanish language course placement tests" (free spanish course at the UAM) here
• Are you in Madrid already and you have nothing to do? Then maybe you would like to know that you can enter for free to this museums:
  • Reina Sofia:
    • Monday, Wednesdey, Thursday & Friday: from 07 to 09 PM.
    • Saturday: from 02:30 to 9 PM
    • Sunday: from 10 AM to 9 PM
  • El Prado:
    • Everyday (Mondays closed), from 6 to 8 PM. If you're European student under 25, then at any time.
• And, of course, come to meet us every Tuesday & Friday at our "ERASMUS Meeting point" here.
